This updater software is provided as a service by FWB Software, Inc. for registered owners of Hard Disk ToolKit™ 1.5. We recommend that you update the HDT files already installed on your hard disk, as the updated files are larger and will not fit on your original floppy disks. Do not update the software on the original floppy disks. In addition, we recommend that you disable all System Extensions before attempting an update. In System 7, this can be done by holding down the Shift key at startup.
Please make certain that you are using the correct updater for your particular version of HDT. The best way to determine which of the updater folders you should use is to insert one of your original HDT disks and read the name of the floppy disk as it appears on your screen. The name of the disk will end with a number (1 or 2) or letter (one or two). This is important in determining which updater to use.
•If the disk reads 'HDT™Disk 1' or 'HDT™ Disk 2' (Note the NUMBERS), then use the 'HDT FWB' folder.
•If the disk reads 'Int'l HDT™Disk 1' or 'Int'l HDT™ Disk 2' (Note the NUMBERS), then use the 'HDT FWB Int'l' folder.
•If the disk reads 'HDT™Disk One' or 'HDT™ Disk Two' (Note the LETTERS), then use the 'HDT' folder.
•If the disk reads 'Int'l HDT™Disk One' or 'Int'l HDT™ Disk Two' (Note the LETTERS), then use the 'HDT Int'l' folder.
The updaters outside of these folders are universal, that is, they may be used to update specific components regardless of the name of the disk - as long as it is version 1.5.
If you are unsure, using the wrong updater will merely give you an error, and will not harm your software.
You may want to change the names of the updated components to reflect the update to version 1.5.1. The Get Info will show the correct version number after the update.
The "HDT Primer™ 1.5 updater" application will bring the release version 1.5 of the HDT Primer, to version 1.5.1. It will work on both serialized (after you have entered your name, organization, and serial number) and unserialized copies of this application.
The "HDT Mounter™ 1.5 updater" application will bring the release version 1.5 of the HDT Mounter, to version 1.5.1.
The "HDT Extension™ 1.5 updater" application will bring the release version 1.5 of the HDT Extension to version 1.5.1.
The file "Drive Data" must be dragged into the same folder as the Primer and World Control applications to operate properly. This Drive Data file is only meant for use with version 1.5 and later of the Hard Disk ToolKit.
